Help map Norway’s Energy Industry
The Norwegian Ministry of Energy has commissioned Multiconsult and partners to conduct a survey.
ONS’ highest distinction recognises individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the energy industry

Tor Arnesen, Chair of the Board of Energy Transition Norway, was awarded the ONS Distinguished Service Award during ONS 2026 in Stavanger on Monday, 24 August.
The award is ONS’ highest distinction and recognises individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the energy industry and the ONS Foundation.
In its citation, the ONS Board highlighted Arnesen’s longstanding contribution to the Norwegian energy industry, his strong advocacy for stable and predictable framework conditions, and his commitment to industry collaboration and the transition towards lower emissions.
Arnesen has held several prominent positions across the energy sector. He served for seven years as Chair of the Board of the ONS Foundation and has also chaired the Board of Offshore Norge. His professional career was spent with Shell, where he served as Managing Director of A/S Norske Shell until his retirement.
The ONS Board also highlighted Arnesen’s important role in the development of Energy Transition Norway.
Arnesen currently chairs the Board of Energy Transition Norway and will also serve as Chair of the Board of Energy Cluster Norway, the new national energy cluster established by Energy Transition Norway, GCE Ocean Technology and Energy Valley.
