Wellstrøm

Technology concept/solution:
‍The M3 Wellstrøm plug is a rigless, real-time controlled and monitored, highly cost-effective seal barrier installation, being significantly cheaper compared to conventional rig-based installation. The plug uses M3 bismuth alloys and is assessed to be capable of lasting for 1 million days in a downhole environment and outperforming 50m of cement with approximately 1,5m Bismuth M3 plug. The solution has a low CO₂ footprint due to its rigless operation and the use of alloy, a low-carbon alternative to cement and electrical technology that can be installed emissions-free. The melted alloy flows like fluids Simpler, leaner operations also equal less harm to people and the environment, less waste in the form of fluids and discharges, and fewer gas leaks due to the high-performance seal.
